What Are Fly-in Programs?
College Fly-in Programs are brief, typically 2-3 day visits to a university or college at no cost. These programs cover housing, travel, meals, and other expenses. The purpose of fly-in programs is to provide prospective students—especially those who are underrepresented, first-generation college students, and/or from low-income backgrounds—a first-hand experience of the social, cultural, and academic environment of the school. Fly-in Programs help students determine whether a school is the right fit while offering admissions officers an opportunity to connect with them. Generally, rising seniors apply to these programs during the spring or summer prior to their senior year of high school.
